Treatment for Infertility

Infertility is a condition which affects the individual as a whole: both physically and mentally. It can be defined as the failure to conceive after 12 months or more of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. It can be due to female or male infertility or combined problems in both.

According to Ayurveda, conception is regulated by four major factors:

  • Healthy Sperm /Ovum
  • Healthy Uterus
  • Proper Nourishment
  • Proper Time of Conception

All these factors should function properly for achievement of conception. Ayurvedic treatment may vary according to each individual, as the cause and manifestation is different in different individuals. Usually the person is first detoxified and a balance of the elements of the body is attained, followed by special treatments for the causes of infertility in the individual. A healthy diet and lifestyle is also advised to get the desired effect.

All main causes of female infertility like ovulation disorders, fallopian tube issues, endometriosis, fibroids, pelvic infection, PCOD etc. have effective management in Ayurvedic Science. The advantage is that most medicines used are natural/herbal, so you don’t end up having side effects from these medication. Mental stress and strain is nil as all the procedures done are simple, which in turn increases your chances of conception as stress is one of the main reasons in today’s lifestyle. For eg. in cases of fallopian tube block, a simple process of inserting oil into vagina will solve your problem.

In males, the most common cause is defective sperm production and transportation for which ayurveda offers a wide range of medicines and treatment.

Ayurvedic treatment tries to normalise the body functions naturally without involvement of dangerous chemicals /hormones, which if used irrationally can damage the natural equilibrium of the person.
